Question about focusing a Keyword related to Images search

The search results for keywords like "Funny pictures of cats" or "Pictures of cute cats" are shown for Google.com searches or for images.Google.com ?
I mean if it shows for the searches on Images.google.com than whats the benefit for making a website on such keywords? DO People only go to google image results?
Any experiences or related person?

results appears on both place and from both places we get traffic. when there was old interface of google images then it was bringing lots of traffic but now less traffic comes from google images site. Earlier there was a code which helps to redirect the traffic from google images to the web page from that image was taken, but now not as much affective as google search specially after the new interface.
