To America, now, as a girl's Facebook update could have cost her father $80,000. In what must be the most expensive update in history, Dana Snay boasted via her Facebook account "Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver. Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT."

That rather charming update referred to a payout relating to an age discrimination complaint put forward by her father Patrick Snay, who was the head of a private preparatory school and didn't have his contract renewed. The school and Mr. Snay agreed to an $80,000 settlement in conjunction with a confidentiality agreement that Dana's misjudged Facebook post seems to breach, as he shouldn't even have told his daughter about the payout.

He's now been told he'll no longer get that payout after all but, as you'd expect. Mr. Snay is going to appeal the decision, so he could receive his money after all, whatever the outcome, here is a prime example of watching what you write.
