I not prefer to use this method now. because nowdays lot of spammers using this and may be this method harm your site. but anyways its just for learn how this work..

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10; url=http://example.com/">

Content="10; tells the browser to wait 10 seconds before transfer, choose however long you would like, you can even choose 0 to give a smoother transition.

nice, but it can not be compared with htaccess redirect, because htaccess does the server side redirect but meta redirect is client side redirection.
I mean for mete redirect, one page which contains the meta tag for redirection has to load and then it will load the new page after the time specified in the code above.
but htacces redirection is better because page loads only one time and it also supports the 301 redirection, it means that it tells the search engines that files is moved permanently to another location.
i think meta redirect is not good even for seo, what do you think?
