Good on Skype for allowing the rest of the world in on its group video calling service, which is now available for free for Windows, Mac and Xbox One Live Gold subscribers.

Before now, the service has been available to Skype Premium subscribers only so this is a welcome move for Skype users the world over. This means that Google Hangouts now has a direct competitor with Skype's offer supporting anywhere between three and 10 participants.

This news also follows Skype's talk of including deeper Skype functionality for Windows 8.1 users when it launches later this year.
