MSI unleashes a slew of new gaming notebooks, powered by Intel and NVIDIA
For a couple of years now, MSI’s line of gaming notebooks, the G-Series has been growing from strength to strength, building their brand by improving on the quality of their notebooks and ensuring that they are always up-to-date with the latest gaming technologies out there in the market.

With the recent announcement of NVIDIA’s new GeForce GTX 800M series of notebook GPUs, MSI has seen fit to announce their line-up of 2014 G-series notebooks with a series of gaming notebooks of varying specifications and sizes.

First of which are the MSI GT70 and GT60 Dominator Pro, which are powered by Intel’s 4th Generation Core i7 processor alongside NVIDIA’s brand new GeForce GTX 880M and 870M respectively. The GT70 gets a 17.3-inch Full HD LED backlit display, while the GT60 gets a similarly impressive 15.6-inch panel. A new model that was unveiled at the event was also the MSI GS60 Ghost and Ghost Pro gaming notebooks, which MSI claims is the thinnest and lightest 16-inch gaming notebook in the world, as it measures at less than 20mm when closed, and weighs just under 2.0kg. This is made possible thanks to the Magnesium-Lithium (Mg-Li) alloy that is used to create the GS60’s chassis, which is a material more commonly used in the construction of space-crafts such as rockets and satellites.

This particular notebook is powered by a 4th generation Intel Core i7-4700Q processor, 16GB of DDR3 RAM and NVIDIA’s new GTX 870M for the Ghost Pro model, and the GTX 860M for the standard Ghost model.

That’s not all there is to MSI’s updates to their G-series notebooks, as they’ve also added a few tweaks and soup-ups of their own. One of the more notable ones is the MSI Super RAID 2 feature, which utilizes three mSATA drives to achieve read speeds of more than 1,500MB/s, which is available on the higher end MSI GT70 Dominator Pro notebook.

All MSI gaming notebooks are equipped with Steel Series keyboards, and as such, the company has added the Steel Series Engine, together with a feature called Text Macro which allows users to assign macro shortcuts to any key on the keyboard. These shortcuts can include chat messages to keyboard inputs for skill and movement combos.

Perhaps the one single feature that many gamers will look forward to the most is the XSplit Gamecaster, which allows gamers to stream their gameplay live on streaming platforms such as Twitch, or even record videos of these gameplays and upload them to YouTube. The XSplit Gamecaster software will be available on all 2014 models of MSI GT, GS and GE gaming notebooks.

All of MSI’s new 2014 G-series gaming notebooks are already available at authorised retailers nationwide. The MSI GT70 Dominator Pro’s price tag starts at RM8, 999, while the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro retails for RM6,499 and the GS60 Ghost for RM5,699.
