    What exactly is "Aqualab"?
It's our global research and development facility, where we apply the latest sports science and technological innovation to create cutting-edge swimwear and equipment.
What kind of expertise do you draw on?
We work with coaches, sports scientists, materials technologists, and experts from industries as diverse as aerospace, engineering and medicine. My own background is product design.
Is this kind of r&d aimed mainly at the elite end of the market
Not at all. A child learner has different needs to a fitness swimmer – and the needs of a top-end competitor are different again. But everyone has the same basic ambition: to make the best possible transition through the water. We aim for the right blend of technology, so every swimmer can have a more enjoyable experience.

What kind of testing do products go through?
Very comprehensive testing. At each stage of development, we test everything rigorously with our panel of swimmers, who come from all backgrounds and levels. Does it do what it's meant to? Does it improve their swimming experience? Does it inspire them to want to swim more? Our panel are great at giving us honest feedback!
What are the latest fabrics and technologies to improve performance
For new swimmers, the Monogram range swimsuits are comfortable and hard wearing thanks to Endurance+ fabric and 100% chlorine resistance. Fitness swimmers need equipment to help them get the max out of each session. The Aquapure goggles use unique IQ Fit technology which is based on data gained from 3D head scanning to ensure a precision fit, maximum leak-resistance and no fogging.
Which recent products have made the biggest difference to swimmers?
For competitive swimmers, Fastskin is a complete racing system, with cap, goggles and suit engineered to work in harmony. Our Fastskin LZR Elite 2 swimsuit offers much more compression to the body, creating a hydrodynamic shape helping to make every stroke more efficient. Swimmers of every level can benefit from a gadget or two. The Aquabeat MP3 player is great for livening up a session, whether you're looking for motivating tunes to help you reach a target or chill-out sounds for a gentle workout. And the Aquacoach watch lets you swim smarter by putting a host of training data on your wrist.
